Travel and your scale

Flights, time zones and hotel breakfasts can all move the scale. Here is how to read your weight on and after a trip.

Trips change everything that affects daily weight: sleep, meals, salt, how much you walk, even the air on the plane.

What usually happens

  • Long flights: sitting still and salty airline food can mean more fluid in your legs and a higher reading after landing.
  • Time zones: sleep and meal times shift, and so does your weigh-in time.
  • Different scales: a hotel or relative’s scale may read differently from yours.

Tips while away

  • Skip weighing, or weigh in on the same scale every day of the trip.
  • Turn on Holiday mode so Evenly does not mix travel readings into your trend.
  • Walk when you can. It helps with jet lag and swelling after flights.

When you are home

Give it a few days. Weigh in at your usual time on your own scale. Evenly’s trend will show when you are back to normal.

Add a note

Tap Travel when you add a weigh-in. Later you can see that a jump came from a trip, not a change in habits.
