Choosing a smart scale that works with you
What to look for in a bathroom scale, and why you do not need an expensive one to use Evenly.
You do not need a new or expensive scale to use Evenly. But if you are buying one, here is what matters.
What matters most
- Consistent weight readings. Studies show home smart scales measure weight closely. Look for a stable, flat scale with good reviews for consistency.
- It sends weight to your phone’s health store. Apple Health on iPhone, Health Connect on Android. Then Evenly and other apps can read it.
- No lock-in. Some brands keep data inside their own app. Others now charge a subscription to sync to Apple Health or Health Connect for new accounts. Check before you buy.
- Privacy. Read what the scale’s app collects. Choose one that lets you delete your data.
Nice to have
- Standard Bluetooth weight service. Scales that use the standard service can connect to Evenly directly.
- Multiple users. Useful for families.
- A display you can turn off, for anyone who prefers not to see the number.
What matters less
- Lots of body measurements. Body fat, muscle, water, "body age" are estimates. Treat them as rough directions.
- Price. A plain scale and typing your weight into Evenly works well.
