When fast weight loss needs a doctor

Slow and steady is the goal. Here are the signs that a change is too fast, and where to get help.

Losing weight slowly is usually safer and easier to keep. Fast, unexplained loss can be a sign that something needs attention.

Signs to take seriously

  • Your weight keeps falling over several weeks without trying.
  • You feel very tired, dizzy, thirsty or unwell.
  • You are eating much less than usual, skipping meals often, or feel unable to eat.
  • Thoughts about food, weight or your body are taking over your day.

What Evenly does

Evenly watches the speed of your trend. If it falls faster than your plan for a few weeks, you will see a calm check-in, not an alarm. You can tell us what has been happening, talk to the coach, or switch to Hidden mode.

Evenly will also not set a range below what is usually a healthy weight for your height.

Where to get help in Singapore

  • Your doctor or a polyclinic for a check-up.
  • SOS (Samaritans of Singapore): 1767, 24 hours, for anyone who needs someone to talk to.
  • Emergency: 995.

If you are in another country, Evenly shows local helplines in the app.
