Progress photos without the pressure

Photos can show change the scale misses. Here is how to take them kindly and keep them private.

A photo every month can show changes in shape that numbers miss. But photos can also invite harsh self-judgement. Here is how to use them well.

Take them the same way each time

  • Same place, same light, ideally daylight from a window.
  • Same clothes, such as fitted exercise clothes.
  • Same poses: front, side and back.
  • Same time of day.

Look for change, not flaws

Compare then and now side by side after a few months, not week by week. Look at posture, shoulders, waist and how clothes sit. Notice what you can do now that you could not before.

Keep them private

In Evenly, progress photos stay on your phone in Evenly’s private storage. They are never uploaded, never backed up to our servers, and never shared with linked apps. The photo screen can be locked with Face ID.

Skip them if they do not help

If photos make you feel worse, delete them and stop. Waist measurements and strength are kinder ways to see progress.
